Working with wire can be soothing or it can be nerve-wracking.
Students often quit before they really get started because of frustration.
Here are some secrets which make a big difference in enjoyment, as well as the quality and beauty of the finished piece of jewelry:
Square Wires will lay together nicely.
Start with straight wires.
Use quilting tape to hold wires together while you work. It’s narrow and easy to remove
“Half-Round” Wire makes the wrap lie evenly around the square wires. ( Half-round wire is flat on one side, round on the other).
Small pliers with thin blades work best.
Get into a Rhythm. Every turn affects the rest.
Press each turn of wire lightly with pliers.
Once you have acquired the technique, it is easier to use other types of wire.
