Druzy Crystal Stone
For Fashion Jewelry
One of my favorite types of stones for jewelry is druzy. Happily, druzy jewelry is quite popular. I love it because the color and sparkle make it unusual and eye catching, while retaining the natural look.
So, “What is druzy stone?” you may ask.
Druzy aka druse or drusy is a fine coating of crystals on a rock or mineral. Drusy crystals usually grow in cracks or fractures in rocks near water. The most common druzy crystal is druzy quartz, but there are many other minerals form drusy stones.
Amethyst cathedrals are an example of a druzy formation, and geodes often have druzy crystals inside. Lovely golden druzy calcite can be found in Fort Drum, Florida. The crystals grow inside ancient clam shells.
Here are more examples of wire wrapped druzy jewelry that I have made in the past.
