Invocation is defined as summoning a source of inspiration. Rebecca Quigley is inspired by the tactile, colorful nature of her surroundings. Educated as a weaver and later an architect, Rebecca uses felting as a natural progression of her training. Her “alien landscapes” express that playful vision and freedom. This freedom is only restricted by the physics of making an object.
In her exhibition Rebecca explores a variety of materials and combines mediums and techniques such as felting and stitching with wool and silk fibers and woven silks; and the use of fiber to make paper. The closing reception features a chance to meet the artist, and gain insight into her story and process. Marissa Nave performs. The show is on view now through March 15.
